JMS becomes the 95th program in the United States to be awarded a chapter of Kappa Tau Alpha, the 100-year-old Nation Honor Society in Journalism and Mass Communication. Students with appropriate grade point averages — the top 10 percent of the class — are invited to join the society. The department can invite alumni who graduated in the top 10 percent of their classes to join only up to AprilĀ 2013. I’ll be the initial and temporary faculty advisor for the Journalism and Media Studies Chapter. Graduates of the program interested in being Kappa Tau Alpha members can contact me. As we just learned of this, the department will set up procedures to govern membership and we’ll post those here and on the website. Of course, fees are involved, but they are modest. For those walking at graduation, there are various adornments as well. Thanks to all of our students and graduates for helping create a fine little program.
